A New Southern Style: Same Friendly Hospitality, More Relaxed

Introducing The James Island Collection by Bernhardt

James Island Gathering
Table with Counter Stools

LENOIR, NC, April 25, 2009 - James Island, SC embodies the unique historical, architectural and cultural character of nearby Charleston and the Lowcountry area that surrounds it – thus, a fitting moniker for the new style introduced today by Bernhardt Furniture.

The James Island Collection shows respect and reverence for historic Southern style, but its classic Empire forms are distilled, more pared down, and firmly placed in a new century.

Appreciation for aged beauty is inherent to the Southern vernacular. In this 42-piece whole home collection, that appreciation is expressed by figured cathedral prima vera veneers with a deep brown Palmetto finish that appears every so slightly worn. Southern style is also all about making people welcome, and these new forms are extremely comfortable with an air of informality and the ability to serve happily for various interiors and personalities.
