Monterey by Bernhardt: An Open Air, Uncluttered Look In Misty Silvery Wood and Dove White Paint

Monterey Buffet

April 17, 2010 - LENOIR, NC - There’s a new look in wood: natural, light, relaxed, tinted. There’s also a current yearning for design purity, peacefulness, a visual silence. Both leading-edge decor trends are to be accessible at retail via Bernhardt’s new collection, Monterey.

Above all, Monterey is about the power of understatement. Strong transitional forms, repeating patterns and minimal ornamentation provides a peacefulness that is worlds apart from our busy daily lives.

The 40-piece whole home collection is offered in either or both of two ethereal finishes, and both make full use of Bernhardt’s extensive woodworking and finishing capabilities.

A soft and romantic Dove white paint finish works wonders for the transitional shapes. There’s a subtle wow effect to the pieces as light is absorbed, shifts, and is reflected in discrete lines of brushed nickel accents.

On a different note, many of Monterey’s rhythmic designs are offered in quartered white oak veneer with a light Silver Oak finish. These misty and silvery veneers are wrapped around cabinet fronts and sides for a high-end consistency in woodgrain flow. Minimal pulls and knobs are offered in a soft antique nickel finish. The contemporary wood and finish treatment imparts an elemental, natural feel much like that found in California andWestern artisanal woodworks.

Repeated design elements include geometric curved diamond grids, soft s-curve fluting and starburst cream colored leather with quilted stitching and nailhead trim.
