Manhattan Buffet

The largely scaled Manhattan Buffet draws its design inspiration from an 1830s neo-classical sideboard from the Home and Community Life Collection of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, Behring Center. Purported to have been crafted in New York, the original sideboard has a marble top, stencil decorated mahogany veneer, gilded carved feet, and marble pillars with ormolu capitals and bases. The Manhattan Buffet features a shaped fancy face top with prima vera veneers bordered by quartered walnut with an ebony inlay on either side and an outer border of white ash burl for contrast. A wide center drawer on top has a silverware insert and sits atop two center doors with an adjustable/removable shelf. Softly curved doors on both sides each hide an adjustable/removable shelf for additional storage.
