Inspired by the feeling of a sophisticated French Inn, the Auberge collection is cozy and comfortable, yet chic and sophisticated. By updating cottage style, the pieces feel time-worn, elegant and collected. French designs dominate, but Swedish and English forms are evident throughout. For a collection that carries casual appeal, but leaves a worldly impression, look no further than Auberge.
Serving as an updated version of “cottage” style, the collection mixes French influences with the cleaner and simpler sensibilities of Swedish and English forms to create pieces that look like “found” items, and exhibit tons of character.
Like with many Bernhardt collections, shapes are sophisticated and feature authentic design inspiration. Some have subtle but shapely scalloping, a few pieces possess a bombay shape, and others have pilasters along their sides.
A meticulous attention to detail is evident through touches like nailhead trim, metal bases in cast iron, antique mirror, linen fabrics, and decorative wood paneling in the back of case pieces. Every element has been finely crafted.
Detailed scrolling hardware in quatrefoil shapes features a blackened cast iron finish. The remaining assortment is just as notable, including bail pulls with detailed rosettes, as well as classic ring pulls, pendants and knobs with decorative backplates.
Wood & Finish
Poplar solids and maple veneers feature a memorable Vintage White finish, which has been painted and distressed for an antiqued feel. A worn Weathered Oak finish on solid oak looks like it has aged over time, and is just as striking.
Natural looking fabrics provide an appealing texture to upholstered pieces. The neutral color tones are perfect accompaniments to the vintage finishes, lending a light and airy feel to living spaces.
